Portable disses Asake in a new song following his Grammy loss, titles it “Your Papa no be army” (Video)
Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has hit the studio to record a diss track at Afrobeats star, Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, after he failed to win at the 67th Grammy Awards.
On February 2, 2025, singer Tems won the Best African Music Performance award at the pestigious show, defeating Asake, Davido, Yemi Alade, and Burna Boy in the category.
However, Portable criticized Davido and Asake for allowing a female singer to outperform them and take home the award. According to the ‘Zeh Nation’ boss, he can seamlessly win the category.
In a recent video showing a snippet of the track on Tuesday, Portable mocked Asake’s Grammy outfit, a camouflage print jacket and pants.
He also mocked Asake for wearing a military-style outfit to the ceremony, only to end up losing the award. Portable declared himself the “reigning artiste” and claimed that he shares a facial resemblance with American rapper Lil Wayne.
The diss song lyrics reads, “No be end of world. It is just a Grammy. My glory go kill my enemies. Grammy ti wa taja teran. Your papa no be army. O lo wosho army. You wan collect Grammy Your papa no be army. O lo wosho army. Ofe fi gba Grammy and your papa no be army. Better go join academy Mr Money. E mi mon reign E oni brain. Mofu jo Lil Wayne.”
This is not the first time Portable has had issues with Asake. In January, he warned fans against comparing him to Asake after the singer debuted his new look, which included shorter hair and face tattoos.
The video triggered massive reactions as social media users shared their thoughts via the comment section.
