“If my child asks who helped me, I will pick Olamide before my mother” – Singer Bella Shmurda (Video)

In a recent statement, popular Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda referred to his senior colleague Olamide as the number 1 artiste who pushed Afroebats.

Bella Shmurda while speaking in the interview claims that of all the top artistes at the international level, Olamide is the only one who is pushing Afrobeats in Nigeria unlike Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido.

According to Bella Shmurda, he is not saying this because he is one of the artistes who benefitted from Olamide but he is saying this because Olamide stayed back and gives young and upcoming artistes opportunities to scale through the murky water of the Nigerian music industry.

Speaking further, Bella Shmurda said that if his child asked him who helped him to be where he is right now, he would pick Olamide before his mother.

In his words; “If my child asks me who helped me be who I am right now, I’ll first call Olamide before I mention my mom.”

Bella Shmurda rose to prominence in 2019 with the release of the remix to his debut single ‘Vision 2020’, featuring indigenous rapper Olamide.

Originally unveiled in 2018, the song didn’t garner significant attention until the remix dropped.

Before gaining fame, Bella Shmurda showcased his talent through numerous freestyles shared on his social media platforms, catching the eye of the YBNL boss.

Additionally, he was featured on Olamide’s track ‘Triumphant’, featured on his 2020 album ‘Carpe Diem’.
